Year 8 Brent Football Final: Kingsbury 2 – 1 Claremont

Kingsbury, who had lost 4-1 to Claremont the previous year, understandably started quite nervously but as they got into their stride, began to dictate the game.

Their control was rewarded on 25 minutes, when Ashlee Hibbert received the ball on the left wing. He used his pace and strength to battle past three Claremont players before putting a great cross in to the box, which Adam Hamdi flicked passed the keeper and in to the back of the net.

Kingsbury held their lead until half time with some solid defending.

Mid way through the second half, Claremont equalised with a superb free kick swerved around the Kingsbury wall. Almost immediately, though, Kingsbury were back in front. Ashlee Hibbert once again drove down the line and his pinpoint cross was met by a fantastic diving header from Adam Hamdi for his, and Kingsbury’s, second of the match.

Claremont mounted attack after attack as the clock began to run down but through some stout, last ditch defending from Jermaine Denny and Joshua Machado and some brilliant saves from goalkeeper, Hayden Graham, Kingsbury held on to take the trophy, with a hard earned 2-1 win.
