On Tuesday the 6 December Kingsbury High School’s ‘red shirts’ hosted their yearly Senior Citizen’s Christmas party, with the support of Valerie Pope, school governor and active member of the community as well as some ex members of staff.
Valerie said: ‘Our visitors came from Roe Green Village, Veterans Club and Magnolia Court, Ashton Lodge, Abbey Field, Preston Lodge, Local Church Groups, Stubbs Close and Harrod Court. I want to thank everyone for the effort they have put in and the room looks truly festive! ‘
The students’ entertainment included various singing and dancing performances, sing along Christmas carols, pass the parcel, a quiz, a performance of a song composed in 1965 by one of the visitor’s father, some festive food, crackers, jokes and joyful moments.
One visitor said: ‘my favourite part of Christmas is being with the family and seeing the grandchildren’s face when they open a present’ another one added: ‘This is my fourth year coming here and it has become part of my Christmas celebrations. Everyone is always very welcoming and polite.’
