On Thursday 26th May 2016 the Young Enterprise Company Programme held their West London Company of the Year Awards at the University of West London. The Company Programme is aimed at students aged 15-19 to enable them to set up and run their own company over the course of one academic year, during which they raise capital, market and finance a product of their own choice.

Kingsbury High School’s Young Enterprise team, NEOS, attended the event with their innovative educational board game, ‘Roundabout’, that focuses on the Key Stage 2 curriculum and is designed to educate whilst having fun with family in friendly competition environment.

The judges for the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of West London, Professor Vicky Vass; Ex Apprentice Candidate, Sanjay Sood-Smith; and University lecturers, Liana Hayrapetyan and Dr Massimilliano Pellegrini.

Judges awarded the winner based on three elements, report and interview with judges, trade stand displays and team presentations.

NEOS were awarded with the ‘Best Company in West London’ beating some tough teams from North and West London. They were also awarded with the prize for ‘Best Presentation’ and were commended on their attractive trade stand, innovation, well written company report, passion and future visions shown in the competition for their educational board game.

Zaenab Iqbal, Assistant Managing Director of NEOS said “The West London Finals made us all realise that NEOS is an established company with an amazing space in the market and incredible potential. Young Enterprise has been an absolutely crazy journey for all of us: from the initial idea of face scrubs, then popcorn and crisps and finally to Roundabout – the one that made it to London Finals!”

Associate Head of Faculty for Technology & Art, Manisha Sanghani, said “It was a proud moment for Ms Gorsia and myself to hear NEOS being called out as winners, the team have come together and showed their resilience and tenacity throughout this competition to get their game ready for the market, and have showed teamwork and passion at each event for which they have been commended on. We wish them all the best at the London Finals.”

NEOS will proceed to the London Final on the 9th of June. We wish them the best of luck.
