Year 10 Students Visit The Somme

On Friday 5th July 2013, Year 10 students went on a one day tour of the Great War Battlefields on the Somme. This is the 29th time the school has made this visit and students spend a total of 20 hours on this intensive study day.

Students visited the Thiepval memorial to the Missing where Head Teacher, Jeremy Waxman laid a wreath to all those who had lost their lives; and Newfoundland Memorial Park where Mr Knox and Mr Jenkins led students through the grassed-over trenches across No-Man’s land to the German front lines.

Mr Long said “The day was a memorable learning experience for the Year 10 History students and they, in their turn, were magnificent ambassadors for Kingsbury High School.”
