Year 12 English Literature Students engaged in an all-day workshop as part of the Asia House Festival of Asian Literature. In the workshop, delivered by Eastside Educational Trust, students explored Asian literature and culture, taking the theme of ‘freedom’ for their own creative writing project. At the end of the session, students, together with the visiting tutor, composed a poem around the theme. To find out more and/or to read the poem, visit the Asia House Schools Programme blog.
On the weekend of 7th – 10th June 2013, 14 Year 9 students went on a cricket tour of Essex and surrounds. Students played against Coopers Corborn School, The Royal Hospital School and Old Brentwood Cricket Club, winning all three matches. The students were accompanied by Mr Donald, Team Manager, Mr Sabag, Tour Organiser and Mr Dominé, Chief Umpire/Scorer.
In their free time, students went bowling, to the arcades and go-karting. Their behaviour was exceptional, both on and off the field of play and a number of members of the public commented on this. Well done to all involved.

On Thursday 23 May, Year 7 students had a very enjoyable time taking part in a MasterChef style competition. Their creations were judged by Headteacher, Mr Waxman and Head of Technology, Mr Carver. They judged the sushi to be the best, the curry dish, second and two chicken dishes, joint third. Mr Carver commented “All of the dishes were really tasty and the students excelled themselves. I wish I was able to cook as well as them at their age.”
