For their London 2012 Olympic Legacy, our Year 8 students are adopting the theme of courage. Under the banner, Wise Up! Face Up! Stand Up!, they are taking up the challenge of supporting the courage of families who are affected by cancer. Through the school year, they will be raising money for, and awareness of, St Luke’s Hospice, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Stand up to Cancer, part of Cancer Research UK.
Students are taking part in a number of Santa themed fundraising activities for St Luke’s Hospice, including running in the charities annual Santa Dash on Sunday 9th December, volunteering in the charity’s shops and collecting donations from staff and fellow students.
Community and Events Fundraiser for St Luke’s Hospice, Kate Gammell (back row, centre) said “It’s lovely to have the support of Kingsbury High School students and Staff. It costs £3 million a year to run St Luke’s, so the support of a local school is so important. This year’s Santa Dash will be our fourth and is set to be our best yet! We hope to raise over £10,000!”
The St Luke’s Santa Dash takes place on Sunday 9th December 2012 at Claremont High School, Claremont Avenue, HA3 0UB.
Registration is £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s. Price includes: entry into the Santa Dash, a Santa Suit (to take home), finishing medal and a well deserved hot drink and mince pie at the finishing line!
