On Tuesday 20th November, Kingsbury High School students took part in a ceramics workshop at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The students were specially selected by their Art teachers to spend a day in the ceramics studio, where they worked with a practising ceramic artist. Students were introduced to the ceramics collection at the V & A, and drew inspiration from the many historical and contemporary ceramics on show. They sketched designs from the collection, and interpreted these into their own clay plate which they made from scratch! They learnt techniques of clay work, from rolling out a slab to clay slip techniques. The plates will be fired and sent back to the school to be put on display.
